Stamparoos 2011 Stamp Camp

I am all packed (my craft gear is packed at least) ready for the Stamparoos Stamp Camp 2011. These camps always have you guessing what you will end up bringing home. We pack our necessities that we have asked to bring and wonder what these little pieces of cardstock will turn into before we come home again. Mmm! What colour to bring and whether the DSP will match. Oh well.  Its all in the learning and of course the first one is always meant to be a sample to go by to make more. Hopefully I wont be coming home as tired as I was the last two camps. Its my hubby's birthday on the Saturday and I hope to be home bright and cheerful for him. I know one time I came home I walked in the door, dropped my bag and said hi and that I was heading straight for bed. Yes you guessed it. We dont get much sleep on these camps.  We try not to go too far into the night. Thats pretty difficult for us stampers.Anyway thought I would get you interested in seeing what I will be bringing home on Saturday night. I was hoping to stay an extra night but as I said before its hubby's birthday and I cant be too selfish. He keeps telling me to stay the extra night but its one day you can never take back.

Sense of Time

Hello fellow stampers,

I am enjoying my RDO today and it is going way too fast. Its been sunny with a few showers. I just love the showers. Its so cosy! I am going to miss winter when it goes but I guess we have quite a bit more of the wintry season to go yet.

I have been trying to catch up on birthday cards etc today.  I was using a temporary glue tape and found that once I had finished my project that I had not quite taken all the glue off and of course the ink does not stay where the glue has been. You are probably wondering why I would be using temp glue on the side I am showing. Well the otherside did not work out so I turned it over and forgot that I had the glue on there. Mmm! I thought then that I would have a play with it and see what I could come up with. You can see by the scrap piece at how accurate it is when you take the tape off. I thought then I would cut out an oval shape with my Ovals Dies and place this over my card. I then taped over the oval shape onto the card beneath. When I pulled the oval shape off it gave a shabby look. I quite liked it. I had the Sense of Time stamp set on my desk and decided to use that one and this is what I came up with. I have used Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze, More Mustard and Very Vanilla cardstock. Stamp pads I have used are Not Quite Navy, Cajun Craze and More Mustard. I used a dauber to apply my ink. I have also used the Square Lattice folder on the Not Quite Navy cardstock. I am thinking now that I should have cut out the clock instead of leaving the cardstock in a rectangle shape. Oh well!  If you are one for not too many layers of card when making your projects you could run the tape around the edge of your card. This would  give the effect of another layer of cardstock to your project.

   

You will find below the Box Card that we made at Ngaires for my folded card night. I know that some of you were not able to attend and I have posted out the instructions but to see it would be a help also.

I had to make a thank you card and found this idea in Cardmaking, Stamping & Scrapbooking magazine. I have used Love Letter DSP for the flower. Using my Scallop Circle Punch to punch out five pieces. I then scrunched them up and unfolded then held them together with an old button I found in my tin. I also used the Two Step Bird Punch for my leaves. I have used a retired stamp set, Stem Silhouettes (one of my favourites) for the background.

Remember that this is the last month for purchasing products from the Goodbye list.  This will be the last time that you see these items up for sale. Unfortunately the stamp set I have used today, Sense Of Time is also leaving us. Please dont hesitate to let me know if you wish to purchase any products. Card folds at Stamparoo night

Hello everyone! Well here I am again as promised. I have been so busy everywhere else that I dont seem to have time to post my blogs. I promised I would post a few pics from my card fold night at Ngaire's (our monthly Stamparoo night). We had a lovely evening and hopefully Ngaire was up early the next morning for her duty. Here are just a few of the cards I took for show.









                                                                 The first one Pop Up Cracker Card or Diamond card I found on paperprintables.com. Go to the website and all instructions including a video are there.  For this card I used the French Foliage Stamp Set which is definately one of my favourites.  All my friends and family know that I just LOVE autumn. I have also used More Mustard, Whisper White and Cajun Craze Cardstock.
                            The next one is one that we were shown at Convention 2011, called the Telescoping Card. You can find the instructions on you tube which is done by Barb Mullikin. She give an excellent Tutorial which makes it so much easier to know just how to be sure your card sits correctly when it is pulled out. For this card I have used: -              
Stamp Sets:
Extreme Elements, Extreme Surfboard, Curly Cute.
Cardstock: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise.  Stamp Pads: Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango. Accessories: Silver Brads, Tiny bit of ribbon in Tempting Turquoise. Scallop Circle Bigz Die, Circles # 2 Die, Circle Scissor Plus.

The next card is the Squash Card which I decorated the same way as one of the demonstrations we saw at Convention only that one was on a gift box. The squash card is very simple and you will find instructions on you tube with Dawn Olchefske. She demonstrates a gorgeous card. I have used the Hello Blossoms Stamp set.  To decorate the card I have used the 7.9mm brads (112534) for the centre of the flowers. I have used Versamark (102283) and Heat & Stick Powder (100625) then the Chocolate Fine Supernova Glitter (114287). So Saffron, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White cardstock was used along with So Saffron Grosgrain ribbon from a previous special.

I have made a little gift box for my Tri Shutter card. I found this idea from one of my ladies at my workshop. Thanks Paula! I am not sure where Paula got it from but whoever it was thank you also. For these items I have used the following: Cardstock; Blushing Bride, Early Espressor, Whisper White.

Stamp Sets: Cottage Garden, Afterthoughts.
Stamp Pads: Early Espresso and Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint for the large flowers. Accessories: Birds & Blooms Die, Big Shot, Antique Brads for centre of flower, Dauber,  Framed Tulips Folder, Hostess pack of DSP.

As you can see for the second gift box  I have used the Top Note Die for the sentiment. I have cut down the bottom layer (Baja Breeze)  and joined the two together and attached to the box lid. I then have cut around the stitching line (Whisper White) and made a template just the right size to fit inside my original piece already attached. Its a little bit tricky but once you have the template you will be able to do as many as you please. I love Baja Breeze cardstock. It is so subtle. The following products have been used for this one:-
Cardstock - Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White.
Stamp Set - Afterthoughts.
Stamp Pads - Baja Breeze
Accessories - Big Shot, Birds & Blooms Die, Top Note Die, Antique Brad, Dauber, Elegant Soiree DSP.

And now a little sneak peak from one of the stamp sets we were given at Convention. I just know this set is going to be everyones favourite. I have made a Twisted Easel card using the following: Cardstock - Whisper White, Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso. Stamp Sets- One I cannot tell you yet, Heard From The Heart, Great Friend. Stamp Pad - Early Espresso. Accessories - Photo Corners Punch, Pearls, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (flowers).

I think I may have posted this card (Double Easel Card) once before as I used it in one of my workshop classes. Unfortunately it is using a retired DSP. I originally saw a large card made in a shop and decided I liked a smaller version better so I came home and adjusted the measurements to fit. I tend to make smaller cards as I dont really like huge cards. I guess mainly for posting etc.

I love the striking colours of red, black and white. This card is very simple by cutting your base card at 21.5 x 11cms (cut 2). Score at 3.8cm & 7.6cm on both cards. Place tape along the inside of the edge of the card and the first score line. Completely turn one of the cards to the right twice so that you have the score lines on the opposite side. You will need to adhere this then to your other card. The photo really shows where to adhere so you should not have a problem. I have used:- Cardstock - Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White. Stamp Set - Afterthoughts (you can tell I like this stamp) Stamp Pad - Real Red. Accessories -  Love Letter DSP, Big Shot, Top Note Die, Ovals Die, Paper Daisies, Pearls, Eyelet Border Punch, Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint added to Rubbing Alcohol for a mist over the flowers.

New Blog

Hello fellow stampers,I have been away on holiday (helping daughter move into new abode in the country so not really a holiday). Here is a pic of a bit of time out. Little Kye loves to ride his bike and we were transfering some furniture to an old house on the block which is quite a way for the little tacker to ride his bike. I decided to grab one of the horses lead ropes and pull him along. It worked like a charm. The first two days we were there it rained and rained all day and night. Here you can see the sun finally came out although it was still only 9'.
I have been having trouble with this blog so thought I would give you my Stampin' Up! blog so that you can check out what has been going on over there. It is:-

I will try to update as often as I can.  With work and other committments lately I have been unable to update.  I will also try to keep this one updated as well. We arrived home yesterday after being away at our daughters and also to Mandurah for a night for my mums birthday.  We were lucky in Mandurah as the sun shone for both days that we were there.  We sat outside and enjoyed the warmth of the sun whilst eating birthday cake and having our cuppa.  I was straight into making cards once I arrived home as I had to quickly get a card off to my sister in law for her birthday.  As you can see I had great difficulty trying to even see to get this card finished. My cat would not leave me alone and wanted to be on my shoulder the whole time.  This is something she quite often does and it has to be the left shoulder.  Anyway pop over to my other blog. Where has the time gone?

Hello fellow stampers,

It has been over a month since I last posted on my blog. I cant believe how the time has flown. I know I always say that but it seems I need to quit work to enable the time to flow slower. Will this work? Who knows! Anyway what a busy month I have had.

But before I go on to tell you about my busy month I have a wonderful special to tell you about. If you have been thinking of having your very own workshop then now is the time. Why? Of course we had our 2011 SU Convention in Melbourne which was a blast. A whole three days this year and I enjoyed every moment. There is never a dull moment when attending the Convention. The demonstrators & presenters are all so talented and keep us entertained right from the beginning to the very end. I learnt so much as I have in the past two that I have been able to attend. New ideas, new sneak peeks which I am unable to say anything about. We have been sworn to secrecy so you will have to wait a bit longer I'm afraid. Melbourne put on its chilly weather for us with our first full day there being the coldest May day in 70 years. I was so lucky I had my big black coat that my lovely workmates had given me a few years ago for my birthday. I just love my coat. We went out for dinner on the Dinner Tram which was excellent. The food was great and the time went so quickly. I have to say though I did not see much of the scenery due to talking and eating. It was dark outside though so we managed to see street names so that we could look it up on the map when we arrived home just to see where we had been. Its amazing when you dont know where you are and you come back to look at the map to see that you had been in an entirely different direction than you thought. On the coldest day one of my SU friend and I went for a ride on the Shuttle Bus to see the sights while the other ladies did their own thing. Ngaire and a group were lucky enough to travel to the Dandenongs and saw snow. How wonderful that would have been. I saw snow for the first and last time about 12 years ago. The photos looked like wonderland. How gorgeous!

Anyway we had a great time and no doubt everyone was tired on their return home. I know I was and could not get over it for about a week. When I arrived home of course I spent all day in my craft room running off CD's for my fellow Stamperoos of the Convention etc. I had to work the next four days but was so tired that on the Friday I asked to go home early at 1pm. I came home and went straight to bed. I went out that night to a play with a work colleague and actually fell asleep a few times during the play. How embarressing! I drove my friend home and then came home myself not really focusing on the driving and then fell in to bed again on arrival. An hour later my hubby rang on his way home from work to say his car had broken down so I had to go out at midnight to tow him home. Gosh does it ever end. Well I am pleased to say I am feeling much better now.

Now to our workshop last weekend. I had two workshops due to some of the ladies not able to attend the Saturday one so I split them up. We had a lovely couple of days and it was nice to be able to have the small groups to concentrate on not so many. The ladies from the other groups were missed though as they are so use to catching up with each other and have a good old natter.

Here are the projects we made. The first one was a swap from the lovely talented Lynda Winfield. I actually used the one I made at swaps so thanks Lynda:) This card was made using the following:

Cardstock- Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede

Stamp Set - Strength & Hope ($2 of each set ordered goes to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation)

Ink Pad - Pretty in Pink, Versamark

Accessories - White Embossing Pwd, Brads, Dauber, Heat Gun.

The next project was also a swap that Ngaire Anderson had made only she used Elegant Soirree' but I used Love Letter DSP.

To make this card I used-

Cardstock - Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White

Stamp Set - For You Flower (from Autumn - Winter Mini catalogue)

Ink Pad- Soft Suede for sponging, Riding Hood Red

Accessories - Basic Black Marker, Black Grosgrain ribbon, 5 petal punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Love Letter DSP, Big Shot, Square Lattice Folder.

The last card I saw at the Convention in Melbourne and was made by one of the demonstrators and for the life of me I cannot remember which one made it. So sorry whoever that may be. Anyway at first when I saw this one being made I didnt like it but when I saw the finished product I thought it was lovely. Here it is using -

Cardstock - Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze

Stamp Set - Vintage Vogue

Ink Pads - Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler

DSP - Elegant Soiree

Accessories - 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Blocks, Spritzer, Choc Chip Marker, Pearls, Shimmer Mist mixed with rubbing alcohol.

Well I best get back to work on my up and coming workshop projects.
